  • The trick to organising your child's Star Wars party

Star Wars never fails to capture the imagination of each new generation, so it’s possible that your young child may have their sights set on a birthday party in a galaxy far, far away. Luckily, it’s never been easier to throw your little one a bash based on the saga thought up by George Lucas. With this in mind, here’s just a brief rundown of some of the items to make it a speculator shindig that your child and their guests will never forget.

    The good guy

Everyone loves the heroes, right? That’s why the bulk of the kids will have their eye on going as Obi-Wan Kenobi. This costume (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-obi-wan-kenobi-costume/) is a mini replica of the one worn in the film and fits those aged between eight and ten. Needless to say, it would be perfect for the birthday boy - or girl!

    The bad guy

Believe it or not, there’ll always be someone who likes the villain. In this case, why not point that guest in the direction of dressing like Darth Vader? After all, the costume (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-darth-vader-costume/) is one of the most iconic in the history of cinema. The get-up is all black and features the mask that Darth famously peeled off when he revealed himself to son Luke in Return of the Jedi.

    The best of the rest

You can never have too many stormtroopers knocking about. Therefore, suggest the all-white costume (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-stormtrooper-costume/) for anyone who is stuck for ideas. Rows upon rows of the troops will actually cap off the theme quite nicely since there are similar scenes witnessed in the films.

    The decorations

You won’t have to look far to find decorations and props that meet the theme. In fact, you should be able to set the scene just by getting your hands on Star Wars-themed napkins, balloons, plates, cups and table covers. These can all be purchased in a single pack (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/star-wars-force-awakens-pack-8-people/) and are ideal for making people feel like they’ve stepped into a whole new galaxy. Need extras? Don't panic, you can also purchase individual items such as extra plates and cups.

    It’ll be out-of-this-world fun!

As far as Star Wars parties are concerned, the road to success is as simple as sorting costumes and decorations. When all’s said and done, your child will no doubt be thrilled with the outcome.

  • Don't panic: we've got World Book Day costumes covered

The most important date of your kid’s year is almost here: World Book Day (if you need a clue, it’s on 2nd March)! Now that you’ve been told well in advance, there are no excuses for having to rustle up something that looks remotely similar to a nondescript character from a book, that might not even be a book, the day before.

No longer do you have to ruin perfectly good clothes just so that your child resembles Smee from Peter Pan. What’s even better is that once you’ve bought a costume, it can be recycled for every World Book Day (until they grow out of it) and any other fancy dress party in which it fits the category.

Choosing a costume couldn’t be easier here at Party Warehouse, but to kick-start your search, here are a few pointers:

If you have a daughter who wants to be a princess for the day, let her embrace this dream with one of the fabulous princess costumes we have to offer. The options are so endless, from classic Cinderella (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-classic-cinderlla-costume/) to exotic Jasmine (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-jasmine-sparkle-costume/), that she won’t know which to choose.

If your daughter prefers to imagine herself going on adventures and quests, being Alice in Wonderland (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-deluxe-alice-costume/) or Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-deluxe-dorothy-costume/) for the day might be just up her street.

If you are struggling to think of what your son could wear, try matching the character to his personality. Is he a cheeky chappy like Horrid Henry (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-horrid-henry-costume/) or does he have such a sweet tooth like Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-willy-wonka-costume-11643/)?

If you have twins or children who go to the same school, you could see if they wanted to team up (highly unlikely but it’s worth a shot) as Where’s Wally?’s Wenda (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-wheres-wally-wenda-costume/) and Wally (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-wheres-wally-costume/)! Or for Harry Potter fans, dressing up as a Hogwarts student (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/kids-gryffindor-robe/) will make the day magical.

Here at The Party Warehouse, our mission is to cater for all. With a range of costumes that are quite literally bulging out the sides of our fancy dress boxes, we reckon there is nothing better than putting smiles on children’s faces as they become their favourite book character for the day.
