  • Celebrate your communion in style

If you’ve got a child who’s celebrating their first Holy Communion, then it sounds to us like you’ve got a great excuse for a party! It’s a brilliant way to bring friends and family together to celebrate an important event in your little one’s life – and make your child feel pretty special in the process!

For an occasion like this you’re likely to be catering for as many adults as you are children, if not more, so make sure your food isn’t too child friendly – opt for things like pizza and sausage rolls that anyone can enjoy rather than too many novelty snacks.

You might want to steer clear of any foods that are too brightly coloured – wotsit dust or ketchup on your kiddo’s special outfit could really put a damper on the day! Failing that, make sure you have a change of clothes on hand in case your child can’t wait to play outside or wants to change into something it’s easier to run about in.

Whether you’re celebrating a boy's (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/party-supplies/special-occasions/boys-christening-comunion/) or a girl’s (https://www.thepartywarehouse.co.uk/party-supplies/special-occasions/girls-christening-comunion/) first Holy Communion, we’ve got loads of lovely decorations and supplies in pink and blue to help you create a girly theme or a more boyish feel throughout your whole party.

Blue and pink plates, napkins and banners will make sure no-one forgets it’s your little one’s special day – and they’ll feel like a real little prince or princess. Have a joint party for all of your child's friends who are receiving their first Holy Communion to ensure it's an occasion they never forget.

You could decorate your party venue with cute photos of your child’s christening, or if you’re celebrating more than one child's special day, play a game where guests can guess which baby at their christening matches up to which of the children celebrating their first Holy Communion.

Check out our full range of fancy dress as well as a brilliant selection of party supplies for all occasions, from christenings to communions and everything in between.

World Book Day | Children's costume inspiration and ideas

    World Book Day

Part of Book Week, world book day is a celebration of acclaimed authors, illustrators and glorious storytellers. March 3rd will be a day of real enjoyment for children and a great opportunity for parents' imagination to run riot with their kids' costumes.

We at Party Warehouse have compiled a list of characters from some of our favourite children's books for your inspiration for book day costumes.

    Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl must be one of our all-time favourite children's authors, capturing the magical sense of childhood in his many books.

Our new line of Roald Dahl costumes could be a fantastic choice for your child, with amazing characters such as Mr Fox from 'Fantastic Mr Fox', Oompa Loompa, Willy Wonka and Charlie costumes from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

Matilda and Miss Trunchbull costumes from 'Matilda', and we even have a BFG costume fully equipped with big ears!

Some of our favourite children's stories hail from the time of World War II such as, 'Goodnight Mr Tom', 'Carrie's War' and 'War Horse'. For children interested in this era, our evacuee costumes would be a really lovely choice. These little 1940s outfits finished with paper tags and paper boxes are a really lovely alternative.

    The Wizard of Oz

'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' written by L. Frank Baum is such a magical book for children and we have some fantastic costumes for these enchanted characters, from Dorothy herself with her glittering ruby slippers to the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the evil Wicked Witch of the West!

For very young children who love 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', the iconic and beautifully illustrated book by Eric Carle, will just adore dressing up as the munching hero of the story with our caterpillar costume.

    Harry Potter

It has been almost ten years since J.K.Rowling finished the 'Harry Potter' series but its popularity shows no signs of slowing down, and we have just the ticket for Harry Potter obsessed children with our selection of Gryffindor robes for your little Harry, Ron or Hermione.

Whether your child is princess mad or imagines themselves as Robin Hood, we have some fantastic choices for every type of reader!

Have a look at our dedicated world book day costumes page and choose from our great selection! If you can't find that ideal costume you're after, call us on 028 71262619 and we will source it for you!
